2016 - 2018
The Beginning
Truth be told, it’s all Aunt Susan Prince’s doing! 😂 Or “play Mama Susan”, to Kevin!
She ultimately shunned both the bride & groom, she did the exact opposite of what they asked; and until this very day, DeQuina & Kevin could not be more grateful that Susan completely ignored them! 🤣
Kevin lived in the same complex with Susan at the time, which is how they became so close; and Dequina is Susan’s niece by marriage (Susan’s brother, Ron, is married to Dequina‘s aunt, Tracey). So, for at least 2 to 3 years, Susan had been telling both Kevin & DeQuina that she had someone she wanted to introduce them to. BUT repeatedly, Kevin & DeQuina said “no thank you” and/or would try to dodge or postpone the question out of fear that they’d not be interested-thereby potentially upsetting or disappointing Susan.
So, eventually, Susan had had ENOUGH! 😂
2018
We Meet
It just happened to be a beautiful Valentines night in the year of 2018. DeQuina & her cousin-friend, Courtne Prince were dropping Courtne’s sons off at Aunt Susan’s house so the ladies could get out & let their hair down for a few!
As SOON as the DeQuina walked into the house, Susan b-lined to her phone & quietly told Kevin she had an “EMERGENCY” & she “needed him to come over NOW!” 🤣
And of course, Kevin came running! WORRIED and running, like Forest Gump! 😂
Lo’ & behold Kevin walks in, & they both just look at each other for the longest minute ever, and they eventually and simultaneously ask each other their first obvious question, “Wait, YOU’RE who Susan’s been trying to introduce me to all this time?!? 😱🤣
And the two of them had a good, hard, awkward laugh about it right then & there -super awkward, especially since Courtne, Susan and the boys were all still witnessing this very flirty, funny, sweet, weird, heartfelt conversation. 😂
Thank the HEAVENS, Kevin didn’t waste ANY time; he immediately let DeQuina know he was single. She then did the same. He asked for her number, & it was all she wrote from there! THE VERY NEXT NIGHT Kevin threw DOWN & cooked for DeQuina on their very first date! A delicious 5-course meal, thereby, according to Kevin, is what “officially sealed the deal!” ‼️🤣💀🙌🏽
